OX-TRAN® Model 702


The OX-TRAN Model 702 is part of Mocon’s modern permeation instrument family, used for oxygen transmission rate (OTR) testing, including high-quality technology that sets a new standard for accuracy, throughput, and ease of use.

The simple design is ideal for quality control as well as research and development. The OX-TRAN Model 702 includes a convenient QuickStart feature which enables an operator to begin testing within moments. The model also includes standard security features to protect critical test setups and control multiple-user situations.

Unique Cell Design

The advanced pneumatic push-button test cells are designed to accommodate standard 50 cm2 samples. These samples can be easily prepared as the cell structures are removable and include an improved surface finish with Nichrome plating for durability. The seven test cells are independently controlled, which makes it possible to run three sets of duplicate samples while allowing for one user-provided reference material.

What’s at stake with a product misspelling?

For any other type of business, it would mean a complete recall – which is costly, but may be otherwise harmless– but, when it comes to the pharma industry, a whole other set of issues could arise.

Why does a process that’s supposed to be highly technical and scrupulous keep encountering problems with labeling issues?

HL-1 Low Pressure Laboratory Heat Sealer

The satisfactory development, manufacture, conversion, and application of flexible packaging films necessitates the implementation of precise methods of quality control systems.
The HL-1 has been developed to precisely control the parameters essential in determining the heat seal threshold of low-pressure heat sealing material for applications where low-pressure sealing is required, often associated with the product being packaged such as the Tobacco or chocolate confectionery Industries.

The HL-1 has a floating top jaw which has a given seal area and weighs the exact amount to produce the correct pressure needed according to the force per unit area calculation. The seal alignment is easily achieved because of the floating top jaw.

Especially suited for flexible packaging materials used in the Tobacco or Confectionery industry, the HL-1 features accurate control of temperature, pressure and dwell time of a standard surface area sealing jaw.





When producing large volumes, there is a variety of important quantity of quality controls and tests that must be performed on the packaging.

PERMATRAN-W® Model 398 Water Vapor Transmission Rate Test System


The new and improved, user-friendly, PERMATRAN-W Model 398 is the latest water vapor transmission rate system from a range of quality systems available from MOCON, the world leader in permeation technology.

This simple, low maintenance system conforms to the new ASTM Standard E-398 and produces the accurate and reliable data the industry has come to expect only from MOCON.

This low-cost model has been designed for both medium and high barriers which allow the user to test two films individually. Each test cell is equipped with its own sensor, assuring greater throughput with results that are accurate. Because the Model 398 produces precise relative humidity testing, two films may be tested simultaneously at two different RH conditions.

The new WinPerm™, Windows® based software, is simple and intuitive. Automated temperature and relative humidity control, as well as automatically determined stability, all but eliminate operator error.




The most sensitive instrument available, measuring water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) down to 5 x 10-5 g/m2/day.

This system measures the water vapour transmission rate (WVTR) of ultra-high barriers with greater

sensitivity than ever before possible. The new generation AQUATRAN® Model instrument targets commercial or developmental ultra-high barrier structures for flexible films in organic light-emitting display (OLED), solar and similar demanding applications, which require accurate and extremely sensitive instrumentation to build performance statistics.

The AQUATRAN® Model 2 uses proprietary technology to accurately and repeatably measure WVTR down to 5 x 10-5g/m2/day. This is one order of magnitude lower than its very successful predecessor the Model 1 which was launched in 2005.


Carbon Dioxide Permeation Rate Measurement Systems for Films and Packages


The PERMATRAN-C® Model 4/41 is a carbon dioxide (CO2) transmission rate test system used to assess barrier films and package materials. It is ideally suited for predicting product shelf-life or checking the quality of incoming and outgoing packaging materials. These results aid in structure development and prevent costly over packaging.

This model performs tests directly at “real world” temperature and CO2 levels. The system’s transmission rate software can control up to 20 test cells in a system. The software will also reduce the possibility of errors with its ability to automatically determine stability and compensate for any flow changes. Pre-programmed test formats, computer, and menu-driven screens make it easy to generate and interpret data test data.

Like all MOCON permeation test systems, the PERMATRAN-C® Model 4/41 is interchangeable. A flexible, dual-film, test-cell configuration and optional package environmental chamber allow for the testing of flat films and finished packages.


OX-TRAN® Model 1/50


This oxygen transmission rate analyser has many features and is designed for simple out-of-the box user installation and is packed with new technology. This includes an absolute coulometric method, with added software to reduce user error and automatic relative humidity controls.

The OX-TRAN Model 1/50 provides MOCON accuracy and combines it with a new patent pending coulometric method for accurate readings, eliminating the need to calibrate. The OX-TRAN® Model 1/50 includes a standard Quick Start® function which speeds set-up time. Frequency Modulation RH Control™, provides faster and automatic relative humidity controls – a feature which is not generally found even on more expensive units which allow real-life testing conditions.
