The successful processing of flexible films or paper and board is largely dependent on the correct coating of ‘SLIP’ additives applied to the material. The successful forming of the material requires easy sliding or flow over formers on the packaging machine where at high-speed acute angles can change the direction of flow to produce a tube or pouch. The application of ink on the film will cause the properties of slip to change, therefore the need to measure and control Coefficient of Friction is paramount.

The ATOM Swing Arm Clicker Presses are used for a wide variety of die cutting applications. The most common uses are cutting soft to semi-rigid materials such as gaskets, leather, cork, rubber, elastic, foam, and other like materials. All of ATOM’s presses are completely hydraulic and are made of strong casting material to ensure powerful yet quiet running. ATOM’s casting also ensures maximum beam strength and performance. All moving parts are made of hardened steel and are self-lubricating. The ATOM Clicker Press is the ideal solution for die cutting sheets of material with small cutting dies. To guarantee maximum visibility of the material, the swing beam can be easily moved left-right by the operator in order to collect the die cut pieces and re-position the tool for the next cut. The ATOM Clicker Presses are quite simple to operate; simply place the sheet of material onto the cutting pad attached to the base of press, position the tool, cycle the two-hand push-button controls (3/10 second delay for optimal safety) and the beam descends under hydraulic pressure, cuts the shape, and returns to the desired height setting.

MOCON’s RACK-6™ increases throughput for testing the oxygen transmission rate through rigid packaging when used in conjunction with OX-TRAN® 2/61. The system also offers users a separate six-cell conditioning unit which enables packages to be brought to equilibrium offline before moving them to the OX-TRAN Model 2/61 for final test results.  Depending on the number of RACK-6™ systems deployed, cost-effective throughput of samples can be virtually unlimited.

Using Container Transfer Units (CTU) individual packages can be moved from the conditioning Rack to the Testing Rack without loss of equilibrium.
